Expert Analysis
Andrew Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Xiang has elevated his assertiveness on offense, pairing his shooting touch with a crafty handle and a quick first step. A talented scorer from beyond the arc, Xiang has range that stretches past the college three-point line. His blend of size, skill, and scoring instincts make him a dynamic player capable of impacting the game in multiple ways. With his ability to finish creatively at the rim, Xiang is set for a strong season.

Key Addition: Josh Xiang 6-0 PG (2025). Xiang comes to Bishop Snyder from St. Joseph Academy where he will add his true playmaking skills and ability to play both ends of the floor. Xiang is a very savvy shooter as well when it comes to scoring from the perimeter and will rarely make a mistake on the offensive end. His defense has also continued to improve while guarding on the ball as he shows a ton of energy and activity causing havoc for opposing guards. Look for Xiang to be more aggressive on the offensive end this season as he is starting to get to the rim and unafraid to finish while absorbing contact this season.

The 6-0 point guard has a smooth touch to his game whether it’s knocking down shots from the outside or on the attack. He uses his strength and confidence to his advantage as well as becoming a smooth ball-handler. Xiang is a legitimate prospect who can play either guard position and has a strong nose for the ball on the defensive end as well.

Xiang is going to make a significant jump in his development this year. He put some moves on display that was refreshing. He is the most skilled sophomore on the first coast. Xiang’s high IQ allowed him to get to his spots and not settle. The 2025 guard has fluidity in his game. His move to SJA only gives them a boost at the guard position. Xiang thrived in the 1v1 drills with three dribbles.

Xiang had a solid day overall. He exhibits a High IQ but his pace and feel for the game are two things that stood out. The ability to get teammates involved was excellent. Xiang just made the right plays at the right time consistently. I like the move to St. Joseph’s Academy from Nease. I believe playing with a seasoned group will help his long-term development as St. Joe’s looks to get back to the Elite 8 this year.
