Jonnie has embraced the “bully game” and fights for buckets at the rim. He outplays most players, and his work on the glass keeps him in the mix for points, rebounds, steals, and anything else good on the basketball court. Jonnie is a tough player who hangs his hat on grit, skill, and determination. This was a great Session 2 for Mr. Walker.

Walker provided a major presence in the frontcourt for John Curtis, impacting the game with his rebounding, rim protection, and physical interior play. The big man continues to be one of the more intriguing prospects in the state thanks to his expanding skill set and willingness to operate inside. While many modern bigs drift to the perimeter, Walker embraces the physical side of the game by establishing position in the post, rebounding aggressively, and protecting the rim defensively. He also showed touch around the basket and the ability to finish through contact. Walker’s activity level on both ends helped anchor the paint for John Curtis, and he finished with 10 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals, demonstrating his ability to impact the game in multiple ways.

Walker is one of the premier players in the Class of 2028, and this season he has returned with significant improvements. A skilled wing player with the ability to stretch the floor, he also handles post duties for John Curtis, evolving into one of the most difficult matchups in the state. He continues to develop as a matchup nightmare with his ability to shoot the three, get to the rim, and embrace the physicality of the post. His 17 points in their second-round matchup were instrumental in the Curtis victory.

Walker is set to have a big season and based on his play there is a lot to be excited about. Walker has an understanding of the game beyond his classification. He is a three level scorer with a long frame and elite level size. He scored 18 points, in the win and did it all in the flow of the game. He knocked down a three pointer, but did all of his other work in the lane. He uses the mid range and floaters to score, and also made his way to the line by drawing fouls. Walker looked special in his first Varsity game of the season.
