Purnell was all over the court, his ability to push the ball in transition to find open teammates, paired with his strong outside shot makes him a true floor general and a problem for the opposing defense. Another part of his game that really stands out is his on-ball defense. The way he can lock down opposing point guards and force them into mistakes makes him a great two-way player for Stephen Decatur High School.

Jonathan had an elite 5on5 set of games during the showcase. Had multiple stretches where he was the best player on either side. Getting where he wanted to inside, creating looks for others with consistency, or draining the triple when given the space. Purnell showed it all in scrimmage play. His defense was up to par as well, nabbing a few steals a game from staying active in the passing lanes and locking down the ball. Had a nice floater over the defender and a big and-1 three in his last game to further solidify the type of day he had.

Johnathan is a deadeye shooter at the point guard position. He can knock down shots all game long by simply spotting up on the outside. Johnathan can bury jumpers in pick-and-roll action when the defender slips. He also knows how to remain active off-the-ball to eventually see himself open for the 3-ball. I enjoyed watching Purnell handle the point while remaining a scoring threat offensively. He knew how to balance he shot-making ability within the offense to help the team remain successful.
