About Jaylen

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a pass-first point guard with strong court vision, leadership, and defensive energy. I control the pace of the game, create for my teammates, and pride myself on making smart decisions under pressure. I can score when needed, but my focus is on running the offense efficiently and locking in on the defensive end.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a focused and competitive leader who stays composed under pressure. I bring a team-first mentality, hold myself accountable, and take pride in doing the little things that don’t always show up on the stat sheet. I’m coachable, consistent, and always looking for ways to elevate my teammates and improve my game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

My main focus has been on school and basketball. I’ve played AAU for several with One Time Legends on the Adidas 3SSB circuits, and I’ve committed myself fully to competing at a high level. Off the court, I stay disciplined academically, and while I’m not involved in outside clubs right now, I take pride in leading by example in the classroom and in my community.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through my years of varsity and AAU basketball, I’ve developed strong leadership skills, especially in high-pressure moments where communication and composure are key. As a point guard, I take pride in being a floor general making sure my team stays focused, encouraging teammates, and adjusting in real time. Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One challenge I’ve faced is balancing school and basketball, especially during AAU season. It taught me discipline, time management, and how to stay focused on my goals even when things got tough. That experience made me mentally stronger and a better leader.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a strong basketball culture, competitive schedule, and a coaching staff that values player development. Academically, I want a school where I can grow in the classroom and prepare for life after basketball. I’m also looking for a team-first environment where I can contribute, learn, and be pushed to reach my full potential."
