Hill – who qualified for the PIL squad having played football for Grant – was named MVP of the event and for good reason – he was absolutely a monster down in the paint. No one could match up with his pure size, but the De La Salle North senior didn’t just bully his way to the basket for scores, he showed off good footwork with his moves and a soft touch – which included a couple of face-up jumpers and 5-for-6 free throw shooting in the finals. When the PIL looked to get a bucket in double overtime, it was a play set up for the future Oregon State lineman down low.

An unanimous selection from everyone we polled, the well-built 6-foot-5 Hill dominated inside as expected as one of the true big men at the event, but as the likely 3A Player of the Year did all season, he was nimble on his feet, ran the floor well, and showed touch on his shot from the perimeter. He showed off some of his Nikola Jokic-esque skills by setting up shop at the top of the key and utilizing his tremendous passing skills to find open teammates. He averaged 16.5 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 15-for-19 from the field in two wins as Team Martin took home inaugural Mid-Major Classic title.
