As an east central Indiana resident we’ve been able to keep tabs on Troutwine since he first entered high school. He really broke out as a sophomore for Hagerstown and continued his strong play into the spring and summer with Phenom United Indiana 16u. The skilled left-handed guard can really fill it up in a variety of ways. He has the positional size and strength to be effective as a downhill driver as well as the perimeter skill to put pressure on the defense from beyond the arc. He has been a consistent top performer across a variety of settings in the last few months really proving himself as a Top 100 prospect in Indiana’s Class of 2028.

Troutwine has had two really good seasons at the varsity level at Hagerstown High School and played well this spring with Phenom United Indiana. However, it was good to see his skill level translate to this level of competition. The left-handed guard was able to create his own shot consistently and flashed some impressive passing ability on Friday at the IBCA Top 100 Showcase. Intriguing Class of 2028 guard to follow.

My first time getting eyes on the talented 2028 guard out of Hagerstown and was quite impressive. Physical left handed guard that thrived on getting downhill. Was a matchup problem for most guards at the camp when he got two feet in the paint. Was comfortable playing out of the post and showed his ability to finish with either hand in crafty ways.

After a strong freshman season, Troutwine has really come into his own as a sophomore averaging a team-leading 15.8 points per game for Hagerstown who is off to a 3-1 start to the season. The 6’1″ sophomore guard recently put up a career-high 26 points in the Tigers’ 66-43 win over Union County. They will face Class 2A #4 Centerville on Thursday evening.

Troutwine hails from my neck of the woods over in east central Indiana and will be entering his freshman season at Hagerstown High School. The 6’1″ guard displayed a versatile offensive skill set on Sunday at our event with a smooth three-point shooting stroke, a quick first step to attack closeouts, and some creative finishing ability at the end of his drives. The length and athletic frame help to maximize his raw skill level as well.
