carried much of the momentum from his breakout junior season to reaffirm his status as one of the state’s most dynamic lead guards. Solomon is an extremely talented guard with a natural instinct for making plays, night in and night out showcasing an ability to seamlessly handle either backcourt spot. Relentless in generating rim pressure while also possessing an innate feel for scoring, Solomon consistently got downhill off the bounce, finishing with craft and creativity in traffic around the basket while also often pushing the pace whenever possible to maintain that rim pressure in transition. Aggressive in getting downhill, Solomon handled the physicality of opposing defenders well all season, staying composed through bumps and heavy ball pressure intended to speed him up, which ultimately led to multiple trips to the free throw line. With such a high usage rate, Solomon consistency made a conscious effort to relieve some of the defensive pressure and create for his teammates, demonstrating excellent court vision both on half court dribble drives and in transition, consistently pushing the ball up the floor and delivering timely look ahead passes to generate scoring opportunities for teammates.

Wiry, slithery guard who consistently finds his way to different spots with the ball in his hands. He converts tough finishes in traffic around the basket and is at his best in the open floor in transition, where his athleticism shines, including the ability to play above the rim. He’s effective at jumping passing lanes and turning defense into offense. Adding strength in the weight room will help him take his game to the next level.

is a guard that can seamlessly play either guard spot and put that on full display throughout Saturday’s action. Possessing an innate feel for scoring the ball, Solomon constantly got downhill out of dribble drives— finishing with craftiness in traffic around the basket while also using different types of floaters in the paint. Solomon also put a tremendous amount of pressure on the rim in transition as he always looked to push the pace offensively. Solomon also showed flashes of his versatile perimeter shot making ability hitting a number of shots off the catch as a standstill shooter and off the bounce creating for himself. Solomon also flashed his decision making and playmaking ability in the ways he was able to create advantageous scoring chances for his teammates in transition and in the half court.

While our main focus was on the adjacent court, it seemed that every time we glanced over during a timeout or break in the action, Solomon was putting the ball in the bucket for his Newark Collegiate group. A lanky guard, he caught the eye first with his swift footwork in the lane getting into soft finishes set up by crafty and improvisational dribble combos. Solomon showed his soft touch could extend out to the perimeter, converting from beyond the arc off the catch and after creating space with his stepback. We’d like to continue evaluating Solomon’s floor game as a defender and playmaker for others, but his length and microwave scoring ability should certainly have him on scholarship radars, particularly if he opts for a year of prep school having just turned 17 relatively recently.

As a facilitator, Solomon excelled at advancing the ball up the floor in transition as well as hitting dump offs when he got in the paint to create advantageous scoring chances for his teammates.

showcased a diverse scoring attack, mixing it up between knocking down shots from behind the three point line, attacking the basket off the bounce, and even flashes of his in between game in the mid range area. Solomon also shouldered some of the ball handling responsibilities, handling the ball against pressure and initiating offense at times. Solomon also stood out on the defensive end, pressuring the ball out on the perimeter, containing drives, and playing the passing lanes with great anticipation ultimately turning defense into offense.

excelled at attacking his defender off the bounce and finishing through contact at the basket in Wednesday’s matchup against Payne Tech. For the most part, Solomon also did a good job of responding to Payne Tech’s physicality— playing through bumps and intense ball pressure trying to speed him up, ultimately resulting in multiple trips to the free throw line.
