JB is the heartbeat of a very good St. Michael’s team, the player who steadies the offense, raises the competitive standard, and makes winning plays in every phase of the game. At the Bowie Invitational, he displayed the full offensive repertoire: initiating sets, driving through contact, absorbing fouls, and knocking down key jumpers. Defensively, Buchunam’s value might be even greater. He’s everywhere, diving on the floor, contesting shots, fighting for rebounds, and setting the tone for St. Michael’s competitive identity. He led his squad to the championship game, falling just short in a heartbreaker, but his leadership and toughness were unmistakable.

If St. Michael’s is in position to repeat as TAPPS champs, Buchunam will be the reason. DBU is getting a major contributor next season.
