Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
We're her Mom and Dad, Stef and Terry. Jaycie sees the whole court and game. She's a great Point Guard. We're new to all of this. She is a starter for Mounds View Public Schools in MN and is a 7th grader on the 14u North Tartan Nike Team. She makes teams better. She's looking for the team to win, not just in it for herself. We look at Assists, Rebounds, Steals........that's her game. TEAM!
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
She started off as a wrestler. Her dad was a wrestler, and her brother's a wrestler. She wrestled form age 5-9. She came to bball in 5th grade. Wrestling taught her composure. Wrestling taught humility. Wrestling taught exposure and mental toughness. The same goes for Softball. All eyes are on you when you make an error. There's nothing to hide. She owns her mistakes.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Jaycie is still only a 7th grader. She goes to church often and is involved in The Well, a church group every other Fri. Jaycie is so involved with her family in North Dakota and Wisconsin, and she attends her cousin's activities. She gets As at school and is very helpful and generous. She has went on strike with her Mom on the Minneapolis Public Schools Strike in 2022 and was a chant leader.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Jaycie has developed internal grit through tryouts at USA Softball Team in Florida and through North Tartan. She knows how to adapt. Jaycie is a team player in the family also, always initiating before being asked. Jaycie has helped her mother on her Middle School Souffle Youtube Channel, reaching out to her 80 Subscribers (HA HA HA) on how to be a good parent to Middle Schoolers.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Jaycie struggled with adapting to being a forward at North Tartan. She also went from being the best on her Travel team to the Worst at North Tartan. She rose beyond that and was a starter last year. She lost both her grandparents this past November and spoke at their funeral. She learned how to speak publicly and with confidence. She knows there will be really bad and really good times in life.
What type of college are you looking for?
She is unsure right now. She doesn't know if basketball or softball will be her place. She loves HELPING others though: education, nursing, social work. Her nature is there! We are all new to this. We want our daughter to be grounded, balanced, and find her purpose in life. If it's sports for awhile, we'll support her. Thank you!
