Jarett Fountain | Prep Hoops Scout
Jax Magness continues to prove why he’s one of the most underrated players in his class. Standing at 6’6, Jax can hurt opposing teams in a multitude of ways. Using his body in the post he’s a major threat on both ends of the court. If he’s not blocking shots, he’s hitting post hooks in the paint. Jax moves well down low without the ball making it easy for guards to set him up for points. Off a defensive rebound it’s not rare to see him keep the ball and advance into a halfcourt set. He’s a big body who has small forward/power forward potential. As he continues to work on an already not bad shot and handling skills, Magness will continue to climb up the ranks.

The first thing that stands out about Jax is his leadership. He was always making call-outs on defense and had overall great communication skills. Similar to Caleb Massey, standing at 6’6 Magness is a very versatile forward. He showed flashes of driving the paint and finishing through contact, catch and shoot threes, and being a real problem defensively. All weekend, Magness played great help-side defense. This led to many blocks and shot-altering contests. Going into his junior year, this is someone who will continue to rise in rankings.

At 6’7″, he brings size and versatility to the wing-forward spot, showing flashes of face-up scoring, rebounding range, and defensive length. Still raw in terms of feel and polish, but the foundation is there, especially if he continues to build strength, sharpen his footwork, and embrace physicality in traffic.
