Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
The leading scorer in the WPIAL with over 600 points on the year, Fredericks put together a dynamic performance with 23 points despite ending his high school career in the loss. Fredericks knocked down five 3’s and a handful of midrange pullups, showing a clean and confident stroke from deep range with polished mechanics off the bounce and the confidence to shoot through the occasional slump. He was also effective as a secondary creator with real polish to his handle and craft as a passer. Fredericks played intelligently but with clear confidence while showing nice quickness and fluidity in space. He deserves a long look from scholarship-level programs looking for shooting and IQ late in the recruiting cycle.

Fredericks had a huge 4th quarter scoring 14 of his 26 points then and was apart of a huge comeback that helped North Catholic secure a victory. His mid-range is like a layup and you can tell he really grinds that shot. If the defense gives him an inch he will take a mile. Fredericks also showed that he can make plays for others with his passing. He doesn’t get sped up and picks and chooses which gears to attack at. He has great timing and finds ways to be in the right spots to make an impact. He is a priority recruit at the small college level and should also see some traction at the prep school level if programs are looking for a floor general who can touch the game in a plethora of ways.

Fredericks impacted the game in many different ways for North Catholic. He found the bucket in different ways attacking, from three and the foul line. He had a game high 24 points. His pulse of being able to find his teammates is one of his best traits. He also very rarely or ever gets sped up by opposing defenses. The biggest knock on him besides his size is his ability to make threes at a high clip even though he converts his fouls at a high rate. I know division three schools are hoping to wrap him up sooner rather than later due to the fact I could see a scholarship program taking him late if they lose a lot to the portal due the fact his ability to be a true point guard.

Fredericks is coming off a productive grassroots season. He was a member of the 2nd team all state team last year but I think he will be a first team member this year due to the fact that is was a senior heavy team last year. I would assume that he and his North Catholic team will make a deep run in March.

Fredericks is a smooth operating floor general who has an elite pulse on the game. He made timely passes to set others up for success. He came up with steals and rebounds. Fredericks scored the basketball in different ways. I would like to see him improve on scoring through crowds and congestion when on the attack. I like the way that he processes the game. Fredericks is a priority recruit for many division three programs but wouldn’t be surprised if he played out the season that he could squeak his way into a division two.

Fredericks is a maestro when he has the ball in his hands. He can score for himself or find others for scoring chances of their own. He finds ways to get to the foul line. Fredericks flat out knows how to play the game of basketball and is a fun prospect to watch every time I evaluate him.

Fredericks did a good job playing on the ball showcasing his versatility whether it was scoring for himself or finding teammates for offensive opportunities of their own. He got to the foul line converting several chances from there. He does a good job getting paint touches in the flow of the offense. Fredericks hit several shots from behind the three point line. He is a prospect who should see a fair share of coaches watching him over the next several months.
