About James

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a confident scoring guard who plays with a high IQ and makes good decisions. I understand spacing and tempo and take pride in making the right read. I can handle the ball to run offense or play effectively off the ball. I shoot it well with range and can score at all three levels. I’m able to create space off the dribble, attack closeouts under control and bring energy on defense.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I focus on getting better every day and don’t dwell on the past. I’m a team-first player who works hard and does whatever it takes to help my team succeed. I’m not intimidated by new situations and adjust quickly. I get along well with teammates and coaches and bring a positive, competitive mindset every day.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed leadership and teamwork by always putting the team first and leading by example. I was honored to receive the Best Teammate award at McCracken Basketball Camp. I also help train younger players and mentor students with special needs, which has helped me grow as a leader and make a positive impact off the court.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I faced challenges with reading early on and was placed on an intervention plan. I put in extra time, including summers, to improve and was able to get off the plan and earn A’s in school. That experience taught me to embrace challenges, stay disciplined, and keep working until I get better.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that is strong both academically and athletically, where I can grow as a player and a person. I want to compete at a high level while being challenged in the classroom and prepared for life beyond basketball.
