Jamel Walker
About Jamel
Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Walker is one of the best all-around athletes I saw at the Hoop Fest. He’s a special end-to-end driver who’s a complete freight train with the ball in his hands once he secures the defensive rebound. And when he gets into the paint, he uses incredible strength, jumping ability and body control to move defenders and finish above or through them with both hands. His shot is a bit odd looking, but Walker will find a college fit based on his athleticism, conditioning and defensive versatility. Scholarship hoops is not off the table, but I would predict high level D3.

and his overall energy and tough demeanor were evident, which impacted his games in positive ways. He was soaring through the air, jumping over everyone and bringing down every contested rebound imaginable. He was playing hard and intense defense, making steals and creating havoc whenever possible. He would also make his own offense from the turnovers he created, attacking the cup with an open lane ahead of him. Walker never stopped running around and that must be respected as he very much was the glue guy Team 3 needed.

It’s tough to determine how many times Walker put his head down and drove left, because it happened virtually every possession. He’s a complete freight train with the ball in his hands and has incredible finishing ability with his left. As the defense continued to focus on him throughout the weekend, he was also able to make some solid reads for assists. Once he gets more comfortable finishing with his right, he could be a legit scholarship-level prospect. Keep an eye on Walker.
