Benzing has always been one of the better shooters in the state, armed with a quick, high release and excellent off-ball movement that he uses to get to his shots. The scary thing for opposing WaMaC schools this year is that the 6-4 wing has added some more ball-handling and confidence in that area to his game, attacking the rim off the dribble and getting to the bucket frequently in the Spartans’ win over West Branch. As he has continued to expand his all-around offensive game, he’s become even more dangerous as a weapon, turning himself from an elite catch-and-shoot weapon into a dynamic all-around scorer. He had 28 points on 11-20 shooting (2-5 3P, 4-4 FT) to go with 5 rebounds and 2 steals.

Benzing is one of the best pure shooters in the state, posting 52-46-85 shooting splits last season while averaging 17.7 points a game. He has good size at 6-4 and moves exceptionally well without the ball in his hands. He has a quick release off the catch, and with his size he’s able to get his shot off pretty much whenever he wants. He’s working to improve his shot creation off the dribble. He uses his length well on the defensive end, getting into passing lanes and contesting shots.

Benzing is one of the best pure shooters in the state, posting 52-46-85 shooting splits last year for the Spartans en route to 17.7 points and 5.7 rebounds a game. He has good size at 6-4, moves really well without the ball in his hands, and has a quick release. With his size, he’s able to get his shot off against pretty much any defender he runs into at this level, and his constant movement on that end of the floor wears down the defense. He uses his length well to compete on the glass and get into passing lanes, and he’ll be a valuable shooter on the wing for a small school.

. Benzing was solid night in and night out all season long. He was an efficient scorer on the offensive end of the floor while being a shot-blocker and consistent rebounder on the defensive end. He does a great job getting to the spots he likes on the floor and being prepared for his jump-shot. He usually sets up outside the three point line to start his possessions, giving him the option to attack mid-range for a pull up or to get all the way to the rim over a slower/weaker defender. His shooting ability is definitely what makes him an attractive prospect to college coaches accompanied with his size. He is the type of player who has practiced so much that he makes shooting the ball look effortless, no matter how far he is away from the basket. This AAU season he will join up with his All Iowa Attack East team for one more go around on the AAU platform. He will look to lead a team that is loaded with talent at all positions across the board.
