Swann, a former Hofstra commit, has seen his stock rise significantly following a breakout senior season. The New York City native is a dynamic three-level scorer who can stretch the floor from deep, operate comfortably in the midrange, and finish strong at the rim. A high-level athlete with good positional size, he brings an explosive element to the wing, attacking in transition and elevating in traffic.
Beyond his scoring ability, Swann’s athleticism and physical tools allow him to impact the game on both ends of the floor. He competes defensively, rebounds his position, and thrives in uptempo situations. With his combination of size, athleticism, and offensive versatility, he has reestablished himself as a prospect trending upward heading into the next level.

Swann made the transfer to St James Academy for his senior season and has had to take on a major scoring burden this season in the EYBL Scholastic league. UCF and UNLV are Swann’s latest offers after he de-committed from Hofstra a couple months ago. It’ll be interesting to see if Swann again picks a mid-major program, or if his impressive play over the past few months makes high majors more interested in the idea of him playing right away.

I’d go on record to say other than Smith, Swann was the next best prospect in the event. There’s pro potential that surfaces with his three-level scoring prowess, elite above-the-rim athleticism used at both ends and the overall fluidity with which he operates that not many players can manipulate. His 19-points was headlined by a massive one-handed tomahawk dunk after a rip-and-go from the right wing where he got eye-level with the rim and brought the crowd to its feet. Parlay that with his routine chase down blocks in transition where he rose up multiple times with his left hand to pin lay-ups against the glass and you have four possessions that show what separates him from others on the floor. If you’ve seen Swann before, you know he’s capable of plays like that, but the shooting touch from outside and off the dribble was the cherry on top of an efficient outing in St. James’ win over Bishop McNamara on Saturday afternoon.

Swann has come in and made an instant impact with his new team. He’s an athletic, attacking slasher who plays with confidence and pace. As a lefty, he can heat up quickly and put pressure on the defense in a hurry. Swann is highly athletic and can get off the floor fast, finishing plays above the rim when he has space. He’s a strong finisher in traffic and consistently converts through contact around the basket. In transition, he’s tough to stop because of his speed, explosiveness, and ability to play through defenders. With his downhill mentality and scoring punch, he brings a jolt of energy every time he steps on the floor.

A prospect Prep Hoops has been higher on than the industry nationally, Swann has added a different dynamic to the St James Academy team with his creation ability on the ball. Swann has a quick first step and can decelerate off the dribble to throw defenses off. Swann also had a nasty left-handed dunk in transition, showing his ability to explode from different launch angles. Looking confident on pull-ups as well, Swann hit some tough shots off the dribble. While Swann does have to take on a large scoring role on this team, his scoring dynamic was much needed for a St James Academy squad that’s had a tough time this season in Nike Scholastic play.

The former Hofstra commit has positional size, is a high level athlete and can be a three level scorer. Expect high level programs to get back involved with his recruitment.

Swann is a talented guard who consistently puts pressure on the rim with his ability to get downhill. He’s a natural slasher who attacks gaps, finishes through contact, and forces defenses to collapse. His speed and decisiveness make him tough to keep in front, especially in transition and early offense. Recently transferring to St. James in Virginia, Swann is positioned to elevate his game against high-level competition.

He was arguably one of the top prospects in New York City. He showcased multiple athletic finishes, including a strong baseline drive. In transition, he completed an explosive finish on the break and displayed reliable hands with a clean catch and layup. He drove the ball with purpose, whether to score or to find teammates and rebounded well in traffic. He consistently used his left hand to navigate through defenders until it was time to finish. As a driver, he was dangerous, combining power, control, and instinct.

A prospect who we were the first public national rankings to have, other websites have started to take notice of Swann at a national level. I was really impressed with Swann’s creativity as a ball handler and creator, making quick moves that keep the defense off balance. One of the top players in New York City, Swann has had some impressive fall showings for Thomas Jefferson and took a recent visit to UMass.
