Expert Analysis

Emerson is a very impactful two way player and did a great job this season as he helped Greensboro Day win an NCISAA 3A State Championship. Emerson has the ability to play in a variety of spots at both ends of the floor and that two way versatility will be incredibly valuable for SW15H Elite UA Rise 17u which is where he’ll be playing this spring/summer. Emerson has the ability to play on or off the ball as he has great size for a kid with that skillset. He’s really good at getting downhill and creating contact that he can finish through or end up at the line. I think he’ll have a bit more of an offensive role on this team than he did with Greensboro Day last season but that should prepare him for what’s to come there next season. Emerson has a super high motor, great instincts, and physical traits as a defender. That will earn him equity with Coach Scott Wood over the course of the season and allow him to play an important role for this very talented group.

Emerson is a long and athletic wing and is going to be one to watch over the next 2 years as he continues to develop! As a freshman, he started 36 games and averaged 4.7ppg and 4.2 rpg. His sophomore year was riddled with injury, but he has recovered and ready to make his presence felt. Jagger is receiving interest from UVA, College of Charleston, and Virginia Tech.

is a class of 2027 guy who I first discovered in June 2024. He’s a prospect who has skyrocketed in our rankings and has proven he is an elite combo guard on both ends of the floor. What sets Emerson apart is his size. At 6’6″, he’s got the length and athleticism of a perimeter player with the skills and decision making of a guard. This is a prospect with arguably the most untapped potential in his class, and I think we’re all excited to see where this guy can go. Emerson is a versatile scorer who’s athleticism allows him to make big time plays for himself and his teammates. He’s a high motor guy who loves to attack the basket in transition and in the half court. Emerson gets to the line often and is an elite finisher through contact at the rim. He’s developed a consistent mid-range game is working on his shot behind the 3-point line. Emerson is a vocal leader on this Greensboro Day squad and has emerged as one of their most competitive guys on both ends of the floor. He battles underneath the basket to scoop big-time second chance rebounds and is an elite defender along the perimeter.

play another season of high school basketball for head coach Freddy Johnson at Greensboro Day. Emerson is everything you want as a member of your backcourt tangibly, and on top of that has a vocal presence on the floor that displays a rare quality of leadership for just a rising sophomore. He’s a versatile scorer given his build and moves well on the floor to create space. Emerson is a gifted passer who has distinct floor general characteristics to his game. He’s an athletic kid who’s an underrated rebounder who likes to push the pace and make plays in transition.

Emerson was a top scorer in the 16U Slam Division while also maintaining his ability to be a disruptor at the rim on the opposite end. He showed off his athleticism and good timing on blocks to make some solid chase-down blocks by the end of the tournament for Rising Pros BSC. He’s an emerging name to get to know in the 2027 class after averaging 20.3 PPG.

Emerson is an intriguing guard/wing with tremendous athleticism out of Greensboro Day School to keep eyes on in the 2027 class. He was a regular in the starting lineup by season’s end in 2023-24 for the Bengals given his ability to defend multiple roles, rebound the ball and get to the painted area. He’ll be a name to keep eyes on with Rising Pros Training this grassroots cycle.

Emerson transferred to GDS and reclassed, giving him 4 more years at the high school level. He’s a lefty wing that is very versatile and acts as a connector across the floor. On offense he has great vision and ability to space and see the floor, one of the higher IQ and aware guys in his grade. Defensively he has athleticism to guard wings and guards, and the size to match up against some forwards. He’s springy and a great help side shot blocker. Overall, he’s a Swiss Army knife that does a bit of everything, and should find a role with GDS this year somewhere in the frontcourt.
