Jacob Pichay

Expert Analysis

Bigger guards think they can punk Pichay, but try again. He’s tougher than you, better conditioned than you, a better athlete than you, and probably more skilled than you. He’s got a very quick first step that allows him to get to wherever he wants to on the court, and he’s got an uncanny athleticism at the rim that allows him to finish over much taller players. He can also score from the mid range and three with his nice-looking jump shot. High level D3’s are considering Pichay, and they should be, but I bet he could even play at the D2 level.

Jacob Pichay Jacob Pichay 6'0" | PG Saint Sebastians School | 2025 New E never gets tired. He’s undersized, but Pichay has an incredible first-step and is a phenomenal athlete at the hoop. He has a mean in-and-out hesitation move that freezes defenders on the perimeter, and then he can hit his jumper in the lane or get all the way to the rack. Oh, and he also strokes it from three, both off the dribble and in spot up situations. Pichay should be a high-level D3 player – I could imagine him in the NESCAC. Maybe he even has D2 potential.

Pichay is short in stature but strong and tough on the ball both defensively and offensively. He has a nice-looking shot from three and can get to the paint for pull-ups with a very quick first step and great handles. Not sure what his recruitment looks like but would definitely be a great D3 guard.
