I havewritten about “Meach” numerous times on this site as in addition to being extraordinarily talented, he is the highest IQ point guard in the state. Still, I did not know this elite floor general was capable of the explosive scoring performances like the one he put on Thursday at the Donofrio Classic. Last night Meachem poured in an astounding 43 points as he and K-Low Elite took home the Donofrio hardware. To be honest Meachem put on one of the most incredible off the dribble scoring nights I have seen in years. Meachem displayed a deep bag of dribble moves as he got into the lane often (an understatement) for lay-ins, floaters, runners, and difficult bank shots. He also got into the painted area, slammed on the breaks, and then executed smooth pull-ups or fadeaways. Meachem got buckets in transition too, repeatedly converting at the rim through contact. He splashed one or two threes as well. When Meachem was double teamed, he did a solid job of moving the ball to open teammates – 10 assists (unofficially). Plus, he generated a few steals. Obviously Meachem (Bucknell commit) was the MVP of this game.

94 to 80…Meachem is an extremely high IQ point guard with tremendous instincts and a well-rounded skill set. What jumps out about Meachem (1st Team All-MAPL) is that he does a fantastic job off balancing his scoring opportunities with getting his teammates involved. When he is looking to get buckets, Meachem can blow past a defender off the dribble and get to the rim. Or he can hit the breaks in the mid-range for a pull up jumper. Meachem owns a highly accurate three-point stroke too. Plus, he is a lethal open court scorer. As a distributor, Meachem’s ability to patiently break down a defense off the dribble until a high percentage scoring opportunity presents itself and then deliver a precise dime is impressive. Meachem’s live dribble passing is next level. This season Meachem posted 18 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds per game while leading Hill School to a runner up finish in the PAISAA state tournament. Bucknell got an absolute steal in Meachem.

Thanks to two outstanding performances from Meachem (Bucknell commit) over the weekend, Hill School is headed to the PAISAA state tournament semifinals. First, Meachem registered 20 points and 8 assists in a win over Episcopal Academy. For an encore, Meachem dropped 27 points (4 threes) on Haverford School. Meachem is an extremely high IQ point guard who can score at all three levels. His ability to patiently break down a defender off the dribble is unique. Of course, Meachem can also blow by a defender with one quick burst. Meachem’s dribble pull up game is incredibly difficult to stop.

Largely a known commodity by this stage, Meachem did what he’s been known to do for the last four years, and that’s stir the drink of the Hill offense with his steady ballhandling and paint pressure. He was called upon to do even more than normal with his backcourt mate in foul trouble and answered the bell with a team-high 23 points to keep Hill within striking range for much of the game. With the game looking to be out of hand, Meachem stayed resilient with a 3 and an and-one to keep his team alive. The future Bucknell Bison went out fighting in the final MAPL game of an accomplished career.

I have noted for two years now that Meachem (Bucknell commit) is one of the craftiest and highest IQ guards I have ever scouted. His ball handling, passing and ability to push the rock on the break have been next level for some time. Now in his senior campaign, Meachem is having a breakout scoring season. On Saturday, Meachem netted 24 points (3 threes), handed out 9 dimes and snagged 8 rebounds in a win over Pennington School (NJ). Then on Sunday Meachem hit Northfield MH with 22 points in yet another Hill School victory.

This Bucknell commit has a reputation as one of the craftiest and smartest ball handlers in the region. This week he also showed that he can score in bunches via his accurate shooting touch. During Hill’s win over a talented Friends Select team, Meachem scored 25 points. In that victory, Meachem drained 2 triples, hit a host of dribble pull ups and dropped in a couple of floaters. Of course, Meachem pushed the rock in the open court for scores and assists too.

This Bucknell commit is one of the craftiest, smartest, and most secure ball handlers in SEPA. Meachem is a pass first style of point guard. But make no mistake, this speedy floor general can get buckets at all three levels. His jump shot is automatic from all over the court. He is a wizard at scoring off the bounce too. Meachem also excels at choosing the right path to the hoop out of pick-n-roll action. In 2023-24 Meachem contributed 14 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds per contest. That impressive stat line earned Meachem a 1st Team All-MAPL as well as 1st Team All-Area selections.

The definition of a true PG, Meachem understands the assignment and has learned when he needs to create for other and when he needs to score himself. An extremely quick PG, he gets past his defender and keeps them in jail behind him or on his hip to draw the help defense before hitting that teammate for an easy bucket. He takes pride in disrupting his matchup’s offensive rhythm and cause havoc with stunts at the ball, poke-outs when they’re directing traffic or not paying attention, and forces dribble pick-ups by cutting off driving lanes to the rim.
