Buettner and the Michigan Tech Huskies inked a dandy with this one. Despite Marquette taking an L last night, Jacob still showed up and had an excellent game. I noticed Jacob is starting to become a lot more comfortable helping bring the ball up the floor and is confidently shooting from 10+ feet out. A characteristic that should transition well to the next level. His work ethic, paired with his frame, often reminds me of LSSU’s Hunter Soper.

Glad we could get Jacob on the rankings. Sometimes the remoteness of the UP limits the exposure for these boys, but that’s where guys like us come in. He recently inked a deal with Michigan Tech and they hit a home run with this kid. Workhorsse. In the gym nonstop working to improve his game and his strength. Stacking up double-doubles and shattered Marquette’s long-standing rebounding record. Unselfish player with a high basketball IQ, he’s always doing the important things that make his entire team more successful.

‘s basketball stock has been on a HUGE uptick the entire summer. I first scouted Jacob at the LSSU Elite camp a few months ago and he has been catching the eyes of fellow PrepHoops Scouts as well as college-level coaches. Coach Buettner liked what he saw at the MTU Elite Camp and laid out a nice D2 offer for Jacob a few weeks ago. MacPhee has put in countless hours at the gym and has dedicated his summer to not only making himself better, but promoting his teammates and making sure they ALL rise together. Jacob’s tall and large frame makes him nearly unstoppable from within the paint. But just about the time his defender decides to body him up or he draws a double team, Jacob can step up with a nice turn-around jumper, or a nice dish to a teammate. Next level coaches should definitely be taking a look at this young man, as not only will he show up and give 110%, but he boasts the stats to make a great teammate and a great community leader. He always has that level of determination as the hardest working kid in the gym.

was a force in the paint on day 1 of camp. He has a nice power dribble/drop step combination that led to many great opportunities from the low post. He is forcefully able to clean up on second-chance opportunities, too. During the 5 x 5 sessions, he was on a team with a quick guard, he picked up on this and did a great job sealing the post. With continued performances like he had on Monday, Jacob will continue to show up on next-level radars. I would easily put him as one of the top PF/C in the entire Upper Peninsula.
