Pierce was a lightning rod of energy and effort across Gonzaga Prep’s four games at the Tacoma Dome. The 5-foot-10 guard was constantly working into the paint and forcing the issue, and his Bullpups relied a lot on his ability to create penetration and get the defense moving. Proof of his relentless effort were his 19 total rebounds (12th), nine offensive rebounds (4th), and 11 steals (1st). On top of all that, he was top-10 in scoring and led Gonzaga Prep to a second-place finish.

Pierce was everywhere to start the game, getting to the rim, working hard on the glass, and just playing with outstanding energy all over the court. He caught his defender napping a couple of times with baseline backdoors that led to easy buckets, and put forth a scrappy, hard-nosed effort that got Gonzaga Prep some extra possessions in a game that ended after two overtimes.
