Olinto shot the leather off the basketball in the one A Step Ahead game I watched this weekend. The 6-foot-1 wing definitely has an odd-looking release, but it has all the makings of a good shot—a good base, a quick trigger, and good rotation on the ball—so he’s a consistent shooter from the outside. When defenses started to overplay his shot on Saturday, the junior made a number of really nice feeds to his teammates, especially in transition. Olinto needs to improve his handle, but his role on his ASA team, which is in the HGAL and should play some high level squads, should be a good spot for him to accomplish that.

He played as well as anyone lately in MIAA. He has a high IQ getting rid of the ball to open teammates, takes care of the basketball. His scoring was unique with his floater but the most intriguing was the quickess release I have seen because of how consistently he caught and shot the ball. He is a no dip 3 player according to this game against Feehan. A projected D3 player in college if he chooses the right school and system. All fans should try to watch him play these next two years.

O. Linto is a lethal shooter from beyond the arc who can heat up in a hurry and shift the momentum of a game. He has a quick release and deep range, making him a constant threat from the perimeter. In addition to his shooting, Linto uses his length effectively to get to the rim and finish through contact. His offensive versatility makes him a tough cover for any defense.

Olinto is only entering his sophomore year, but he’s got the skills and mind of a seasoned senior. He’s tall and lanky with really solid craft and feel. He had a “smitty” spin move during the showcase that turned some heads, and he’s also a capable finisher at the rim. Olinto can also hit the open three and consistently finds his teammates for on time, on target assists. Most impressive was Olino’s mentality and effort, which never waned throughout the day. Very bright future ahead for Olinto.
