Lafayette, a senior guard out of Peoples Academy High School, has firmly established himself as one of the top scorers, and prospects, in the VPA. According to MaxPreps, the 6’2″ guard is the state’s leading scorer, with a 32.3 points per game average (through 10 games worth of accumulated stats). A bigger guard that can play either spot in the back-court, he does a nice job of utilizing a quick first step to get downhill as a driver and finishes at the rim with a good combination of athleticism, power, and skill. He’s a tough shot maker in the mid-range, can consistently knock down shots from behind the arc in the half-court, and does a terrific job of moving without the basketball, particularly as a hard cutter that scores off of his movement.

Lafayette, a junior wing out of Peoples Academy, should be a breakout candidate this winter with the potential to lead the state in scoring. He has plus athleticism, good positional size, and the ability to fill up a stat sheet in a variety of ways. He thrives with the ball in his hands, showing that he can make tough shots from all over the floor, while also being able to create for others off the bounce. Defensively, he does a great job of making an impact on the glass.

Lafayette’s ability to do quite literally everything for this PA squad caused quite the stir when they took down the eventual D3 champs in the regular season. Defenses threw everything at Jack, and yet he still managed to get his 3-level scoring off with athletic drives, impressive mid-range sticks, and smart 3pt shooting. Moreover, he sees the floor and balances all that creation with aware feeds, dissecting rotations. A versatile, lock down defender too, Jack can dig in on ballhandlers and plug up holes with ease. A two-way combo with all the tools to explode this spring.

Lafayette is a knock down shooter with a lightning-quick release that looks well beyond his years. He’s still filling out other parts of his offensive game, but the shooting is there and he seems to have a mind for the game; he knows where to be, how to move and how to pass. He’ll need to grow and get stronger if he wants to play at the D1 or D2 level, but I could imagine him improving as his body catches up to his mind. Should be a D3 prospect.

is a combo guard ball handler whose game is based upon passing and shooting. He has a tight handle and moves the ball on a string in the half-court. Lafayette typically makes the right reads and the potential to control the offense on a full-term basis is real. Off the ball, he shoots the ball extremely well, with a picturesque form and amazing touch. Lafayette can also shoot on the ball and looks good with movement shooting and pull-ups from the top of the key. Defensively, he competes hard and uses quick hands to easily create turnovers. Lafayette’s offensive game should take a bigger leap with more ball-handling opportunities and a team needing shooting and passing should look into him.
