Expert Analysis
Jay Anderson | Prep Hoops Scout
Byers was a strong presence in the Ashbrook backcourt this season in leading them to a 26-4 record. He showcased his guard skills with 19.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.3 steals per contest as they went 13-1 in the 3A Big South Conference and also took home the regular season and conference tournament title. Given his activity on both ends of the floor, he’s certainly a prospect for DII/DIII/JUCO programs in the region to get on their radar after wrapping up a productive high school career.

Byers made a massive jump to enter our rankings at the 113th position, which is very fair place to be after averaging over 20 PPG, 5.7 RPG, and 4.2 APG over the season. He was the lead man all year long for the Green Wave as a perimeter defender and mostly a slasher offensively, but also can knock down shots on the offensive end from the perimeter. While an upset second round loss came a bit early for Ashrbook, they should be back in force next season, led by Byers.

Byers continues to be a lead guard to monitor over at Ashbrook High, as he scored 19 and 25 points in two conference wins last week to finish out the regular season. He’s a big time finisher who can also knock down open threes when left with a cushion on the perimeter. Also very capable at knocking the ball loose and playing tenacious perimeter defense, racking up 5 steals in Tuesday’s game.
