The 3A GSHL MVP, Vargas is a solid athlete at the guard spot and can play either position in a pinch. He’s strong going to the hoop, rebounds the ball well, and brings a lot to the defensive side of the ball too. He’s stronger than most guards, has the quickness to keep up with them, and has the burst to rack up stocks at a high rate.

Vargas is a physical guard who really stands out on the defensive end but also has the ability to lead on offense with the ball in his hands, creating looks by driving and dishing. He averaged 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks last season which highlights his ability to physically overpower and overmatch most guards he lined up against. He’s also an active player on the boards, pulling down 6.4 rebounds per game last season, and if he can get stronger finishing at the rim, should be able to improve on his 11.5 points per game from a year ago. There is a lot to like with Vargas heading into his senior season as he plays with great energy and physicality that creates a lot of opportunities out of very little.
