About Hunter

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very disciplined and competitive when accomplishing goals or taking on new challenges. I am a goofball naturally and enjoy having a small group of friends that I can trust. My grades in school have always been really important to me just like basketball is really important to me.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am not involved in any clubs, I played on the JV basketball team AZ Compass Prep, so I am very fortunate to have been able to start my basketball career with the school as playing basketball in college is my goal and I’m very thankful for all of the training and experience that I have gained so far as it has allowed me to realize how much I want this.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I definitely learned to not follow the behaviors of other teammates and to make sure I am listening to Coach and being respectful. I don’t do official community service, but I help my family a lot, and I help my friends a lot who may need help like getting my friend Ja 3 basketball shoes for the season and I help my mom who takes care of my friends mom who is an nursing home.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

This year was a challenge as I was battling not being as tall as my other teammates and learning that height does not always equal talent. I’m learning to use my prepubescent height as an advantage with my shooting game and I’m a very analytical person so strategy is everything on the court, so I focus on strategic seek attacks and three-point shots.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has a family oriented athletic program, more court time and the ability to grow with a team. I don’t need to go to the best of the best college, as sometimes the bigger name schools may offer less court time. I want to go to a college that recognizes that both academics and athletics are what a true student athlete really is.
