Matteson, who finished his high school career as Dartmouth’s all-time leading scorer, announced this week that he will play his college basketball at Springfield College. Among the best interior prospects in all of southern Massachusetts, Matteson is a throwback big that has expanded his game to include a consitent and reliable shot from behind the arc. He has terrific hands, catching everything thrown his way, and good footwork in the post. A good passer, he is comfortable making decisions with the ball both in the low post and at the elbow. His ability on the defensive end will most likely determine how quickly he makes an impact at the next level, but few post prospects are more ready on the offensive end than he will be when he steps foot on campus at Springfield in the fall.
