St. Johns hosts a Marshall team that’s been very tough this season. Both teams are playing solid basketball and this could be a fun matchup. When 2 winning teams play, it can be the efficiency of the lead guard that can make the difference. That’s where Kinkema comes in. He’s probably 1 of the more underrated lead guards around. He’s very coachable and plays a high IQ game. Trust me, he’s a guard that you want to watch.

Hunter, I haven’t forgot about you. From what I hear, a good point guard is well on his way to being great. Coaches at the next level will want to take in a St. Johns game this season. Kinkema is a disciplined and high IQ guard.

Don’t let this name slip by you! Kinkema was easily one of the most improved players in central Michigan last year. He’s a well coached lead guard that knows how to guide a team and win games. If Kinkema can continue his game growth, there will be a line to get in the gym at St. Johns on game night.

I wrote about Hunter back in June and have been watching him play basketball since 6th grade. He’s always been extremely skilled, despite being undersized. It’s always fun to watch him unselfishly turn down a good shot for a teammates’ great one or throw the ball up the floor in transition after he receives an outlet pass. The next level of development for him as a player is becoming physically stronger and continuing to focus on being a vocal leader on the floor, rather than just always by example. His communication on defense improved throughout the weekend and is always the first to pick-up a teammate with a high-five after they make a mistake.

Kinkema is a name to remember from here on out in his high school career. Like I said up top, he’s a crafty defender that can and will lock down top talent. Kinkema is a solid decision maker as well.

Kinkema had a breakout summer and showed that he’ll be a prospect to keep an eye on over the next few years. His perimeter defense played a big part in the growth of his game. Kinkema showed a strong defensive IQ and the ability to get stops 1 on 1 and play the passing lanes.

Remember this name! After seeing him play this summer, I’m still embarrassed that I wasn’t aware of him before. He’s a leader that plays with determination and heart. Kinkema is a very coachable guard that has obviously been taught to play the game the right way.

Kinkema was undoubtedly the lead guard for St. Johns on Sunday. There wasn’t one player in the gym that could consistently stay in front of him. His ability to get by people gave Hunter the option to finish at the rim or pass to the open man. Decision making on offense is his greatest strength, and his long arms with good instincts make him an asset on defense. Look for Hunter to have a big June. He will never be the biggest guy on the court, but will use his high-basketball IQ to be effective.

Kinkema is a name to remember in the state of Michigan. Just like Kurncz above, he’s having a huge breakout spring. Kinkema is a versatile guard that can play on and off the ball. He’s successfully unselfish with the ball, but can be a game changer when he gets hot with his jumper or attacks off the bounce.
