Sward, a guard from South Kingstown, has led his team to a 14-4 record and the #3 spot in Division II. A strong perimeter shooter, Sward is a two-way guard that makes as big of an impact defensively as he does offensively. He moves well without the basketball, relocates into passing lanes off drives, and is always shot ready on the catch. With the ball in his hands, he’s capable of getting downhill and making plays in the paint, where he absorbs contact and makes the right read as a finisher or facilitator. Defensively, his frame and strength allow him to guard mutliple positions and he’s proven that he isn’t afraid to be physical and make plays in the paint, boxing out and securing rebounds at a high rate. South Kingstown has had a good season and is primed to make a run at states with a guy like Sward on their squad.
