A steady, battle-tested guard who knows how to run a team, Pops plays with pace and purpose. He’s at his best orchestrating offense—probing defenses, getting two feet in the paint and making the right read. The state champ has a knack for controlling tempo and doesn’t get sped up, even against pressure. He can score it when needed, particularly off pull-ups and strong takes to the rim, but his value is in his decision-making and leadership. Defensively, he competes and understands angles. Colorado State-signee brings consistency every night.
Pops Dunson orchestrated the game with total composure, showing strong control from start to finish. He played at his own pace, allowing opportunities to develop while staying balanced mentally—never forcing action. He exploited defensive mismatches, made a point to involve his big, and directed the offense with sharp decision-making. When he shifted into scoring mode, he was highly effective—knocking down mid-range pull-ups, converting touch shots in the lane, and finishing through physicality. He displayed a complete offensive package and impacted the game across all three levels.
One of my favorite guards to watch this summer on the 3SSB circuit, Dunson Jr is a pure bucket getter. Recently breaking his school’s career scoring record, Dunson Jr has Alexander in prime contention for Georgia’s 5 A state title. I’m a big fan of Colorado State’s 2026 recruiting class and Dunson Jr should have the opportunity to fight for minutes early in his college career.
Pops carried the offensive load with 28 points. Physical guard blends finesse with power. Got to his spots in the mid-range and finished at the rim. Colorado State-signee controls games with how he is able to manipulate defenses.
The high scoring lead guard for Alexander, Dunson signed with Colorado State in the fall and is scoring 19.3 point per game this season. The point guard is highly skilled, very good with the ball in his hands and sees the floor well. He can create offensive opportunities for himself or other and is a reliable shot maker.
One of the top scoring guards on the 3SSB circuit, Dunson Jr had a monster spring with the Atlanta Celtics where averaged 21 PPG on 44% from 3-point range. That scoring ability made him a favorite among top mid major programs from across the country and was offered by Tulane, Saint Louis, Duquesne, UAB and more before deciding to become a Colorado State Ram. Those types of programs wanting to take a chance on a high school point guard to play with the ball in his hands speaks volumes to his offensive talent and is why I’m higher on Dunson Jr than the rest of the industry.
A frontrunner for Class 5A Player of the Year, the Colorado State-commit is an elite guard who balances playmaking and scoring flawlessly. Physically stout, Dunson dictates the action on the floor without issue. Gets downhill with either hand. Has blossomed into a well above-average three-point shooter, a bucket off the catch or off the dribble. Pops posted 18 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1 steal per game.
Up from 10: Controls games with his ability to score and facilitate. Physically strong. Gets where he wants to go. Has blossomed into a very good three-point shooter. Has terrific court vision. Racked up D-I offers this summer.
Dunson has takeover ability as both a scorer and facilitator. A physical guard with deep shooting range, he thrives attacking downhill and finishes through contact. Pops makes advanced reads as a passer and keeps defenders off balance with his change of pace. A complete floor general with elite feel and control. One of the most impactful playmakers in the state.
Pops did his thing as lead dog in a win over Chapel Hill. Dunson hit tough shots from the perimeter, pulling up for threes after using a crossover to create space. He finished with 19 points and 3 assists. Look for Dunson to become a more aggressive scorer each and every season. D-I schools have already offered the well-rounded mature guard.
