Brooks is a quick, shifty point guard who consistently keeps defenders off balance with his change of pace. He gets to his spots with ease, showing great control and confidence in the midrange. His high basketball IQ allows him to read defenses, make smart decisions, and dictate the flow of the game on both ends.

Brooks is a lightning quick guard who has the ability to make plays for himself and others frequently for his team. He does a really nice job of turning the corner when on the attack. Brooks scored the ball in a plethora of ways. His ability to play on or off the ball was seen often throughout the game. He uses his quickness to stay attached to opponents on the defensive end and is always applying ball pressure.

I can’t get enough of watching Brooks play the game of basketball. Against KUA’s 2-3 zone, Brooks was dishing up his teammates in the middle with look away and misdirection passes. But he also got into the gaps of the defense with his superb quickness and handle, and he showed off some wildly impressive finishing moves at the cup over some very large centers. I was initially of the mindset that it would be tough for Brooks to play D1 hoops, but I’ve come around, mostly because of the impact he has defensively. He’s so active with his hands and is an absolute nightmare to dribble around. So fun to watch.

Brooks is a shifty, two-way point guard. Defensively, he slides his feet so well laterally and has active hands; he’s always looking for back taps and sneaky steals. He can get a little over-aggressive at times, but when he’s locked in, he’s an incredibly difficult PG matchup on that end. Offensively, he can shoot it from three – with lots of range – but also has the ball on a string and can penetrate the paint. He showed off a really nice, no-look feed in the first half, too. Brooks is unsigned but can probably play scholarship ball somewhere.

Brooks had a terrific showing at the NEPSAC Showcase allowing him to solidify his spot as one of the top lead guards in New England. An elite change of speed guard, Brooks has a quick first step, can stop on a dime, and does a great job of changing direction off dribble moves. He shows nice burst in the half-court and does a good job of using his body to create space in the paint. He’s crafty, shifty, and a creative paint finisher. On top of that, he makes great reads out of ball screens and does a good job of passing on the move. Defensively, he has some of the quickest hands in the region that compliment his terrific agility to allow him to be a particularly disruptive on-ball defender. He already has a few Division I offers to his name and should only continue to gain interest this fall.

Brooks is a joy to watch. At only 5-foot-11, he does the most important thing a short guard needs to do to stay on the court: he defends. Brooks picks up 94 feet and gives opposing guards nightmares the entire way. He’s unbelievably quick and consistently beats players to the spot, but then he also has great hands once he gets there. He only played 44 minutes during the entire Peach Jam but led the team in steals with six. Offensively, Brooks is ultra-quick and can knock down the three, but he won’t wow you with offensive skill. His size could definitely limit his recruitment moving forward, but coaches should still love his ability to defend and make shots. He’s a D1 player.

The 5’11 point guard was the most active player on the court from the jump ball. Brooks hounded opposing guards defensively and even rose up to block multiple taller players at the rim. His quickness and ball handling ability allow him to control the pace of the game offensively.
