Schmitz excels as a spot-up perimeter shooter and can play off that with some off-the-dribble shooting in the midrange. He knows his strengths and how to get in position to take advantage of them; sprinting out to space breaks, making good reads off screens, and mixing in some good ball fakes and pivots to get around aggressive defenders. He’ll be thrust into a bigger role this season and will be a player to watch.

Not sure who Schmitz is playing with this spring but he’s a flamethrower from deep that is worthy of a look. He can really get it going from outside but doesn’t let that define his game. He also shows good patience in the midrange to let players fly by after a pickup, uses ball fakes, and stays balanced to rise up and knock shots down. He’s got some good quickness and burst too and could be a player to take a big step forward next season.
