Expert Analysis
Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
An explosive athlete on the wing, Groves played above the rim and used his explosiveness to score through defenders in the paint. Being able to explode off two feet is crucial and Groves did that for a slam dunk and some left-handed finishes against rim contests. Also knocking down a set 3-pointer from the corner and showing the ability to attack closeouts, Groves was efficient from the field in the game I saw. A clear stock riser from this weekend, look for Groves to make a big jump up our 2027 rankings during the next update.

Gavin, also known as “Goose,” is one of Kentucky’s more underrated juniors. Similar to Brayden, Gavin will benefit from the attention that Ambition should draw on the MHC and he’ll have a chance to turn some heads with his two-way play. Seemingly up to at least 6’3″ now, Gavin plays bigger than what he is and is capable of guarding multiple positions on the court. He isn’t afraid to make the necessary hustle plays, whether it’s securing a 50-50 ball or protecting the rim. His motor combined with his ability to score the ball from anywhere on the court could set Gavin up to be a scholarship-level player in the near future.
