Smith is a very skilled wing player who has the size and skill combo to work from different areas, and utilize that size and skill to attack different defenders in different ways. He has a pretty good concept of where he opportunities will lie, who he can muscle around, where to take outside shots versus go inside, and how to play with some poise when he attacks gaps.

When you watch Gabe, the first thing that stands out is his strength on the court. He is able to use his body nicely in the paint to get space to finish buckets. His footwork is smooth and can seal opponents easily with his size and athleticism. He stays fundamental too, which is something that not a lot of players do on the court. He is playing off two feet and being patient.

Gabe plays the game really under control, knowing what he is going to do before he gets the ball in his hands. He sets great screens, being able to pick or pop in the pick and roll game. He absorbs contact in the paint well, using his frame to get and-one buckets by playing off two feet too. He can knock down the deep shot and handle the ball nicely too, being an offensive threat.

Smith put together a pretty outstanding sophomore season at Medical Lake, and in a few events this spring, he’s showcased a real ability to score the ball. It starts with his outside shooting at 6-foot-6, but he also has some strength that helps him battle inside and score off the bounce. I’ll be interested to see how he matures physically because he already displays a lot of technical ability.

Smith is a pretty well built forward/wing who has demonstrated the footwork and ball skills to score out of different spots on the floor. He has the touch to finish in various ways in close, and he has also been consistent enough from behind the arc to force defenses to follow him all around the court. He handles the ball well enough to utilize his strength and get to his spots and has been a pretty impactful player for Medical Lake this season.
