Expert Analysis
Shane Garcia | Prep Hoops Scout
Gentile is a unique player because of his game. He is a big strong kid who dictates contact when attacking the basket and in the paint. He is a monster on the boards and moves everyone out of the way. He has a great touch around the rim. He was dominant in the paint and then he started bringing the ball up the court and showed that he could do it all. He hit a difficult step back deep and contested three from deep to tie the game in regulation.

Gentile was getting busy early in the game with some incredible long-distance shots off movement. Not afraid to fire them up at the rim, Gentile shot 4/8 from 3-point range. As the top scoring option on his team, defenses were throwing two bodies at Gentile to try and stop him and he started doing a nice job of hitting his teammates on the block in positions to score at the rim. Already with a handful of small college interest, Gentile will be one of the most productive players in the GWOC this winter.

A rising senior with an old school game, Gentile is a throwback type wing guard. An efficient scorer due to his elite shooting ability, Gentile does a nice job of creating contact and either stepping back or powering through the defender to score. A tough shot maker off the bounce, Gentile gets to his spots and is confident. Not going to win any high jump contests, Gentile has to use his skill to throw off defenders and use moves he’s master with a strong work ethic. After finishing sixth in the GWOC in scoring as a Junior, Gentile should once again be one of the toughest covers in the greater Dayton area’s top conference.

One of the top scorers in the GWOC this season, Gentile has an old school game. A high IQ player who uses his bigger frame for his size to create space off his physicality. An efficient scorer as well, Gentile scored over 16 PPG on 51/39/80 slash marks. In a Fairmont system that requires half-court execution, Gentile does a nice job on set plays designed for him. With his feel for the game and production, Gentile should have no trouble getting small college interest and should be a problem in men’s over 40 leagues when he gets older.
