Ethan continues to impress when he is put on a stage with stiff competition. I’ve watched him quite a bit at the shooting and finishing station, and he’s reaffirmed why he’ll be in the running for Mr. UP and All-State. Wills Lee has been pushing the kids to hustle all morning as well as repeatedly reminding them to look their coaches in the eyes when they’re talking….some little things, of which Ethan does well.

It’s the fourth time I’ve mentioned Ethan in the last two weeks, but when you’re one of the most coveted players in the Yoop, it demands coverage. Ethan had a long stretch of basketball over the last few weeks, between attending the Zero Stars Event, multiple college camps, and AAU practice, which surely left him rolling within the dog days of summer. We will be watching to see how Ethan responds to the workload and how the rebound plays out on the court. My guess, he doesn’t skip a beat and shows all of us why he’s considered by many to be the best all-around baller in the UP.

Marta showed everyone in the gym on Monday and Tuesday why he is the best player in the Yoop and why he belongs in the GLIAC. I was eager to watch how he would match up with some competition that he may not have seen before, and he stepped up gloriously. Mr. Marta will most certainly be entertaining a lot of next-level offers in the weeks and months to come.

continues to impress both college coaches and scouts alike. He put on multiple dominant performances this weekend as he and his fellow Patriots from Ishpeming Westwood took home the championship trophy. Getting to the hole with dominance is something he must be working on, because he did this often and with authority. His time with ADVANTEDGE is paying off, no doubt.

(feature image) is a rising star for the Patriots of Ishpeming Westwood. He stacked many accolades during his junior season, including hitting the 1,000 point mark, some 30+ point games, and helping lead the Patriots to a trip to the Breslin. Ethan is one of my top picks for next year’s UP Mr. Basketball. Many college coaches will see an excellent display of athleticism with Ethan this Friday.

Marta is a player that all people downstate in Michigan will want to take note of see play if and when they can. He’s a game changer with his jumper and probably one of the better shooters in Northern Michigan. While Marta can take over with his jumper, he’s also very effective as a playmaker with the ball in his hands.

Heart and soul of the team, can absolutely shoot the lights out of the gym. This kid’s a worker and will do whatever it takes to make his team successful. He gets face-guarded and double-teamed nightly but still figures out a way to score in bunches and help his team secure clutch wins. Averaging 28.3 PPG, this guy will definitely be up for POY and Mr. UP Basketball.
