Everything about Beard’s game translates to the next level, from his ideal 6-foot-4 frame and physical tools to his decision-making, two-way impact, and efficient in-game shot selection. Eric (EJ) Beard is a standout player for Heights High School that delivered a great performance in their recent playoff victory against Stratford High School. He scored an impressive 24 points, showcasing his scoring ability. Additionally, EJ demonstrated his defensive ability by recording 6 steals. His active presence in the passing lanes and his constant movement on the perimeter were instrumental in his success. This strong performance not only contributed to Heights High School’s advancement to the next round but also highlighted EJ’s versatility as a player capable of making a significant impact on both ends of the court. As the grassroots season begins this month, I’ll be witnessing EJ’s continued growth and development as he prepares for the upcoming season.

Eric (EJ) Beard is a highly proven scorer that has been under my evaluation for the past couple of years. He consistently scores between in double digits per game, both during the season and whenever I watch him play. As the primary scorer for Heights High School, he also possesses the ability to generate steals in passing lanes and by playing disciplined defense on the ball. Currently, Eric is averaging 22.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. His shooting percentages are impressive, with a field goal percentage of 49%, a three-point percentage of 33%, and a free throw percentage of 80%. These statistics have earned him some Division 1 offers from top-tier programs during the season as his stock is likely to grow further as he is in the class of 2028!

has emerged as one of the season’s biggest breakout players, elevating his confidence and production game by game. Beard stacked 11 games of 20+ points in December alone, including two 31-point performances. In those two games, he attempted double-digit free throws each time, combining to go 22-of-25 from the stripe, a testament to how relentlessly he attacks defenders. His ability to generate contact, apply scoring pressure, and demoralize opponents at the foul line has made him one of the most difficult covers this month.

Eric made clutch shot after clutch shot in Height’s Friday evening game and hit the buzzer beating shot to go to extra quarters. He knows how to make athletic, tough buckets off the catch and shoot or the dribble pull up and is an effective combo guard who makes good decisions with the ball in his hands in crunch time. I really enjoyed watching him pick apart opposing defenses and come through for his team in the clutch when they either needed a stop or a score.

Eric “EJ” Beard was involved in multiple possessions against Dickinson High School. In this game, EJ capitalized on his driving ability by getting to the basket numerous times, skillfully maneuvering around multiple defenders. While driving to the basket, he also finished through fouls at a high rate. Besides his exceptional ability to get to the basket, EJ also shot pretty well from mid-range. Due to his aggressiveness with the ball in his hands, he frequently found himself at the free throw line offensively. Defensively, EJ stole the ball from opposing players’ hands, keeping his hands active and contributing to the Heights defensive stops on that end. Overall, I was impressed with EJ’s competitiveness throughout his game against Dickinson.

Beard’s off-the-dribble game was powered by explosive acceleration and crafty handle control. He attacked downhill with a low, tight dribble package, mixing in hard bounces to manipulate defenders and get to his spots. Beard’s ability to shift gears instantly allowed him to blow by closeouts and create separation in isolation. His balance, body control, and burst make him a tough cover whether he was attacking a mismatch, or collapsing the defense for kick-outs.
