About Elijah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a dynamic combo guard (SG/PG) with a high motor, strong leadership, and an elite defensive presence. I’m a skilled scorer at all three levels and use my basketball IQ to create plays for both myself and my teammates. As a “Big Guard,” I take pride in reading defenses, making smart decisions, sharing the ball unselfishly, and raising the level of play through hustle and communication.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a disciplined, team-first leader with a strong work ethic and high character. Grounded by my military family upbringing, I bring respect, versatility, and a positive attitude to every environment. I’m driven, adaptable, and intentional, focused on growth, inclusivity, and elevating those around me.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Outside of basketball, I was honored with my school’s top Art & Design Award last year for creative excellence. I also enjoy giving back through community service and volunteering, including donation drives to support those in need.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed key skills and qualities that extend beyond the court: Leadership: I’ve learned to lead by example, especially in high-pressure situations. Whether it’s taking the last shot or motivating teammates, I embrace responsibility and stay composed. Teamwork: Understanding the importance of playing within a system, I’ve honed my ability to trust my teammates and make the right decision.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One challenge I’ve faced is balancing school, basketball, and family responsibilities. It can be hard to manage my time, especially during the season with games and travel. But I’ve learned to stay focused, stay organized, and keep pushing forward. This has helped me become more disciplined and stronger mentally, both on and off the court.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where I can earn my undergraduate degree in Business, Cybersecurity, or Computer Science while competing at the Division I or Division II level on an athletic scholarship. I want to be part of a program that values both academics and athletics, and where I can grow as a student, athlete, and leader.

Given his production in the 3 on 3 competition his ability to play the game the right way was obvious. The 6-2 combo guard game translated well in the 5 on 5 games. Using his ability to use his length to impact the game on both ends of the floor. Had no problem asserting himself offensively once he got the ball in scoring positions and also being a ball distributor. Wright showed the ability to knock down jumpers and touch the paint at a high volume with dribble penetration. Long arm defender with the anticipation to force turnovers and block shots. Next in his development process is working on his ability to get stronger and play through contact which will make him a more complete offensive player. Plays extremely well off two feet.
