About Elijah
Expert Analysis
Miles Masercola | Prep Hoops Scout
Holmes is a guy that operates with a high IQ to go with his natural aggression and ability to play a physical brand of basketball in the backcourt. Holmes has had a strong Spring thus far with Team Inge where he provides a ton of production for this group along with being a true connector at both ends of the floor. Holmes does a great job finishing in traffic when given the chance as he’s able to play through contact. He makes good decisions as a passer off of his paint touches, looking for the dump off or kick out to the shooter when available to him. Another thing he brings to the table is his nose for the ball and ability to rebound for his size, he’s consistently a 5+ rebound guy minimum as a 6’0″ guard. Holmes is making a real next level case for himself and should have a strong June at Cary Christian along with finding himself amongst the ranked at our next 2027 update.

Elijah is on the watchlist right now but will find himself amongst the ranked group and won’t be on the bottom of the list when his time comes. A multi sport athlete, Holmes is starting to come into his own as a basketball player where he’s a physical and well rounded guard that can put a lot of pressure on the defense with his aggressive approach. Holmes operates with great vision, a nose for the ball, and a high level of buy in to his teams approach to the game. He helps them execute their offense, often finishing plays at the rim or finding his teammates in good spots. We’ll be tracking him closely as the spring/summer continues to progress because I have a feeling his production will translate to travel ball. His game is simple, effective, and impactful at both ends of the floor.

Holmes has been an incredibly reliable all around producer for Cary Christian this year who is enjoying a lot of success as a team as well. With a 15-8 record on the season despite dealing with some injuries in their lineup, Cary Christian is a tough unit to deal with considering how scrappy are combined with their discipline in the offense they run. As a junior, Holmes is averaging 10.9 Points, 6.5 Assists, 5.1 Rebounds, 4.0 Steals, and 0.7 Blocks per game. Holmes has a constant presence on whatever game he’s playing in with his vision, physical presence in the backcourt, and ability to finish in traffic at the rim. He helps execute their offense and is a true two way connector. He competes for rebounds, puts his body on the line to make a play, and brings a ton of toughness to each game. If Holmes can continue on improving his shooting efficiency, he’s going to become a next level target sooner rather than later because he can play.
