Dual-threat point guard who can really shoot the long-ball at a high clip and has great feet to get to his shot from different gathers. A little undersized, but tough going up against bigs at the basket and uses different types of slow-steps to counter shot-blockers. Really impressed with his desire to make plays on the defensive end this summer and excited to see him get going this winter.

Gillespie showed some electric ability behind the arc in their game against Union, showing he can inject some life into their offense with quick hitters from deep. Their offense got stagnant on a few occasions and struggled to open up driving lanes, but Gillespie has a quick release and looked to be aggressive with his space outside. He also made some nice reads defensively to get a steal on a peel switch and try to infuse energy and flow into their offense.

Elijah is a shifty guard who can attack with both hands really well. He is calm on offense, always making the extra pass and playing off 2 feet when getting downhill in the paint. Gillespie played fantastic defense too, moving his feet well and showing great agility/lateral movement.

The electric guard for Perseverance Pirates showed why he’s such a highly regarded prospect in his class last weekend, demonstrating an ability to shoot off varied gathers and footwork, knocking down shots from tough angles, and working out of different shooting pockets. He’s a highly effective shooter from all levels off the bounce and stays light on his feet to create space and rise up quickly.

Gillespie was a huge driving force in an elimination game for Graham Kapowsin to force overtime against Mount Rainier. He came out with the quick trigger from 3PT, doing a great job relocating after drive and kicks to spot up for 3s, and also was one of their best shot creators off the bounce. He ate on a heavy dose of jumpers in the first half but still shot a good percentage. Then he opened up the second half with a smooth middy pullup and went right back to knocking down 3s in bunches. As the game went on, Gillespie only seemed to get more confident and while he mixed in some excellent finishes at the rim it was his outside shooting that nearly pushed GK over the edge to victory.

Gillespie is an electric player who can score the rock in a lot of ways and Saturday he got it going from deep, starting the second half out 4/4 from 3PT. He was drilling off the catch, mixing in a little hesitation dribble, hitting from the corner, the wing, it didn’t matter. He was in rhythm and showed how he can jumpstart an offense with his scoring.
