Crooked Oak is well positioned to compete for the Class 3A crown and it’s in large part because of the magician like abilities of the young lead guard. He’s quick as a cat when getting downhill, and has the ability to hit contested shots among the tallest trees. Has great english on the ball when he shoots at the rim, often getting the favorable roll. Deep range from three makes him a complete scorer, along with the eye for a nice pass or too. Is a 1,000 point scorer in only three years of varsity play and has proven to be a winner this year. As Crooked Oak is knocking on the door of the Class 3A State Tournament for the second time in three years. Southwestern Christian in Bethany has offered but more regional JuCos and NAIA that like smaller guards should be checking on this gritty guard.

Love the combo of quickness and savy the 405 guard plays with. Deep range on his three pointer opens up his ability to attack, which leads to scoring for himself and creation for others. Plays with noticeable swagger, that includes using his small size to advantage when slipping by taller defenders with quickness and understanding of angles. Has become a a priority target for regional NAIA programs and would also likely thrive at the JuCo level as well. Will be one of the top overall scorers in Oklahoma this winter for potential Class 3A State Tournament team, Crooked Oak.

Garcia has been dynamite this spring, with the ability to pull from deep and carve up the defense with his quick off the dribble game. With the combination of quickness and smoothness he plays with, he’s proving to be a bet on production player. As his impact on games easily surpass any judgement of his shorter stature. For college programs that target smaller guards, Garcia with the Oklahoma Chaos will be a must watch in Wichita.

Garcia closed out Saturday with a complete performance on both ends of the court. He was a pest on the defensive end, seemingly always in the passing lanes and finding his way to scoop up loose balls. Then he always in control on offense, which allowed the Crooked Oak 2025 guard to leave his mark all over an overtime victory.
Garcia’s ability to always look calm and quickly process plays on offense was possibly his most impressive trait. He has great misdirection skills with his movements, that left defenders guessing on drives where he would score himself or fire good passes to teammates. The unselfishness in particular was a great trait to see out of him, as he got his teammates involved with feeds in transition or hitting open shooters. His off the ball movement was also a strong indicator of how he’s the complete package from a lead guard standpoint. Two of his threes in the contest came on plays where he first drove, drew a crowd, kicked to a teammate. Then he relocated to the perimeter and drained open jumpers.

The Crooked Oak standout shined in a match up against Putnam City North, which featured him going against bigger and more athletic guards who in theory should have gave him trouble. But there’s no backdown in Garcia’s game, from draining deep threes to having the burst to get downhill and attack. The Ruf-Nex carried himself with the small guard swagger that’s needed to thrive in a game of giants. This cumulated in him draining a nifty floater in an over-time period to deliver a victory for his small school program. Crooked Oak broke through with a Class 3A State Tournament appearance, even with Class 3A looking loaded this year, Garcia will give them a path to back to back appearances.

Crooked Oak would win their division, and in the semifinals it was an electrifying performance for the compact and quick guard that helped them advance to the finals. Garcia made a living in the paint, where he’s an outstanding finisher for his size. When the defense started to sag off to compensate for his quick first step, he even buried a deep triple. Mix in some flashy playmaking in transition, and Garcia has the look of the type of undersized but super productive lead guard that leads his squads to lots of wins over the next few years.
