Dylan Veillette
About Dylan
Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
I can’t figure out what position Veillette plays (not that positions are even that relevant in modern basketball). At 6’7, he really impressed with his shot blocking ability, defensive instincts and rebounding, and he showed some solid footwork in the low post. But he also likes to step out and shoot the three-ball (he didn’t make his shots against Governor’s, but his release looks good). He can operate as a hub at the top of the key or a wing shooter, and he’s versatile defensively. The Merrimack commit will have a tough time playing as a big man at the next level, but he has enough other skills to make it work. Kid is tough as nails.

Dylan Veillette Dylan Veillette 6'7" | PF St. George's | 2025 State #357 Nation New E continued to look the part of a dynamic forward who can provide a well-balanced approach on the basketball court. He impressed me offensively with his ability to hit the open three when left wide open, driving the basket for easy scores, and pushing the pace in transition with long outlet passes. He was also a bulldog defensively guarding the perimeter and rebounded his position well with great effort. His attitude and leadership also stood out, as he cheered for his teammates and brought a sense of confidence to the hardwood.

Veillette is an undersized forward who plays a lot bigger than his size. He has an energetic motor and always has it going when he is on the floor. Veillete has good touch around the blocks. He shows flashes stretching the defense.

Veillette, the 3rd ranked power forward in New England, finalized his college plans with a commitment to Merrimack College. Veillette increased his stock as much as any forward in the region last spring, changing his body and showing his versatility on the offensive end of the floor. He’s done a good job of evolving his game to the perimeter and now profiles as a versatile hybrid forward at the next level. He’s tough, competitive, and plays with a relentless motor. He has great hands, is a terrific finisher around the rim, and has developed his jumper into a reliable part of his game. Defensively, he rebounds at a high clip and has the mobility to guard up and down a position. Most impressively, on top of his effort, is his willingness to be vocal on the defensive end of the floor. This is a terrific match of prospect and school, with Merrimack getting a prospect that could make an impact the day he steps on campus.

Dylan Veillette Dylan Veillette 6'7" | PF St. George's | 2025 State #357 Nation New E is a bouncy small forward who can score in multiple effective ways. He’s got a deceiving quick first step and uses it to attack the basket and dunk with authority. Veillette can also be a lob threat with his hops and his good timing on his cuts makes him earn easy baskets. He is a willing floor spacer and can knock down open threes off the catch. Veillette also has some post moves, which he can use to his advantage in the mid-range area with turn-around shots. He will also compete on the boards and use his athletic gifts to protect the rim on defense too. Veillette’s offensive toolbox is diverse and deep, which should make coaches froth at the mouth for his services.

Veillette is an ultra-skilled big man who has a very versatile offensive game. He can play with his back to the basket but can also be an offensive hub in the pick and roll/dribble handoff game. He brings his offensive game together with a beautiful outside shot and great passing instincts. Definite D1 player with a handful of offers already.

Dylan is a strong built and a high level talent. He plays on a high level AAU team with BABC. He is a threat for a double double every time he is on the floor. He is a paint protector, and can finish well at or above the rim. I have seen him play live multiple times. He can throw down big dunks, and also had a very nice chase down block when I saw him play. He has a soft touch, and a good drop step move. He was also effective on the pick and roll the times I saw him play. A lot of potential is his game.
