About Dustin

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a shifty combo guard with a deep scoring bag--quick off the dribble, able to create space with smooth moves, and deadly from long range. I can knock down shots from deep, operate efficiently in the mid-range, and attack the rim when defenders press up. Overall, you play like a confident shot creator who can score at all three levels and keep defenders guessing.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a win-first mentality and stay focused no matter the situation. I communicate a lot, lead when needed, and keep my teammates encouraged. Off the court, I’m laid-back—a car guy who brings good energy and humor. When I set my mind to something, I always find a way to get it done.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am currently on a team just for fun called Desmond Elite which me and some friends made to enter tournaments to have fun. I used to be with Katy Eclipse/Houston Hoops and am probably going to get back at it this summer. I played with the Indonesian National Team overseas and high leagues last summer. Outside of sports I have won some business awards from school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong leadership and teamwork skills by communicating on the court, encouraging my teammates, and stepping up when my team needs direction. I’ve also built discipline and a strong work ethic, always staying focused on improving and finding ways to succeed in any situation. I also help out with my community with food drives, underprivileged kids, and just in general things.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I faced the challenge of being 4'11 and skinny in middle school, which made it harder to stand out. I built confidence by focusing on my skills and improving my game instead of my size. Over time, I learned to overcome my disadvantages through hard work and belief in myself.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m still unsure whether I want to go to college because I might go straight to playing pro basketball overseas in Indonesia. If I do go, I would only go if I can play some level of D2/D3 basketball. I don’t really care what college or where it is, but I would prefer somewhere in Colorado or Texas.
