About Drayden

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’d describe my gameplay style as gritty. I give 100 percent every time I’m on the court, always hustling and doing whatever it takes to make plays happen. I aim to elevate my teammates and make our entire team stronger every time I’m on the court. Even in intense games, I stay calm and keep my composure so I can make the right decisions under pressure.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a pretty laid‑back person, but once it’s time to compete, I flip the switch. I stay calm and relaxed, but I’m always locked in and ready to go. I don’t get rattled easily, and even though my personality is chill, I’m still super competitive and always trying to win.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am an active member of our FCA chapter and my church's youth group. I am also a member of the National Honor Society. I recently received my school's Redhawk Way Accountability award and received an academic achievement award.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve learned how to communicate, encourage my teammates, and keep everyone focused. I’ve also gotten better at teamwork, understanding how to play my role and help the group succeed. Outside of sports, I’ve done community service, which taught me responsibility and how to give back. Overall, I’ve learned how to work with others, stay accountable, and step up when my team needs me.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes. I tore the labrum in my left shoulder in 7th grade and needed surgery to repair it. As a freshman, I learned the injury caused permanent nerve damage. Since then, I’ve worked hard to retrain my body, using other muscles to compensate and relearning how to dribble and shoot left‑handed. It’s been challenging, but it’s taught me perseverance and patience.
