as the Bombers used a great defensive effort to secure a 20 point win and advance to regionals. Waleskowski came out firing with a pair of 3-pointers and an and-1 mid-range jumper in the opening minutes. He capped off the win with two huge slam dunks off his right foot. Impressive that the Bombers handled business so easily without one of their star players.

seem inseparable as the duo have played together for St Xavier and on the grassroots level for as long as I’ve known about them. While Wassler just committed to Bellarmine, Waleskowski remains unsigned as he is one of the elite shooters in the region. We’ll see if they can lead the Bombers past Kazanecki and GCL South rivals Moeller this year.

St Xavier and Winton Woods played a tight game that went all the way to sudden death overtime after Waleskowski made three free throws with two seconds left to tie the game. All day Waleskowski was knocking down perimeter shots off the catch, being efficient when he was left alone. A key closeout attack also led to a finish at the rim for Waleskowski who was by far the most reliable offensive piece the Bombers had this afternoon. One of the top shooters in southwest Ohio, Waleskowski will hope to attract scholarship interest this summer.

The headline match-up of both events was Cincinnati St Xavier Vs Cleveland Heights Lutheran East. This was a battle that went down to the wire but the Bombers did enough to get their marquee win of the season. Walekowski led his team with 15 points as he can really shoot it from the outside. With his size, basketball IQ and shooting ability, Walekowski looks like a scholarship level prospect. His best play of the day came when he pump faked an aggressive closeout and side stepped for a dagger jumper. Walekowski had a slow start to his Junior season, being held under 10 points in his first five contests. Since then, he’s scored 28, 21 and 15 to regain his form.

Waleskowski has had a great season for St Xavier, being one of the leading scorers in the GCL-South. Waleskowski plays at his own pace and does a good job of getting open in a deliberate St Xavier half-court offense. With his scoring numbers and offensive ability I’m very curious to watch Waleskowski again because the one game I caught of his this season was a lower scoring game than usual for him, suggesting he could have even more upside to show me the next time I watch the bombers.
