Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Great floor spacer with the clutch gene. Used to hitting big shots and has good range from a few feet behind the arc. Really effective with runners and floaters to take advantage of space with controlled attacks, and can hit them with consistency over tight contests. He’s pretty efficient from each level and has really been ramping up the defensive effort this spring to round out his game.

Even though Daniel came up on the short end of their matchup with Skyview, he did just about all he could do to keep them in it, ending the night with 31 points. He’s an outstanding outside shooter who sunk a few on the night, but most of his work came in the paint. He does a great job slowing the game down around the painted area and recognizing where the space is or creating his own. Whether it’s with floaters, euro-steps, or leveraging his opponent to create space, Daniel is a highly skilled paint finisher from the guard spot.

Daniel had one of the best stretches from a competitive standpoint I saw from session one. In a close, back and forth game, he took over for a quick burst of plays to almost single-handedly steal back momentum and springboard his team to a win. He’s a talented scorer who can shoot a high percentage from outside and has a deadly floater he can hit off either foot, open or blanketed.

There are a lot of great shooters in this list but what makes Daniel stand out is his grit. He’s a kid who can drive a team toward the finish line with his shot-making and as he showed this weekend, can lift his team up by knocking down the outside shots. He was a late-game killer in a big win yesterday evening for NW Drip, and also has shown a premium ability to hit the contested runners and floats in the paint to play off of his high-efficiency outside shot.

An excellent shooter from distance, Daniel was Co-MVP of the 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League this past season and has continued to show why he’s a separator when he’s on the floor. He’s great off the catch and shoot, can play off the threat of his jumper to get inside, and plays pretty controlled when he gets to the middle. A player who’s confident in his game, Daniel is in for a big spring with NW Drip.

Lights it up from long-range but also has the ability to run an offense and get things going with his ability to penetrate gaps. Shows an elevated feel for making the hard passes look easy and has good awareness of where teammates are as he drives in to the hoop. Pretty quick hands on the defensive end too and can be a menace on the ball. He was the Co-MVP of the GSHL 3A last season with Evergreen.

Previous Rank: 63rnDaniel is a name that keeps popping up on news clips for Evergreen games with consistent scoring. He’s a lethal shooter from 3-point and looks to have an easy stroke from deep range. He can play both guard spots but looks better at the point with his ability to create on the go. He has light feet, is really reactive, and has great patience and feel when attacking with the ball. He’s also a tough defender and plays a big role for the 6-5 Plainsmen.

Daniel is a pretty heady player who I first saw at the WIBCA Showcase this spring. He’s a guard capable of making plays with the pass or the shot, likes to work going to the rim, and makes quick decisions with the ball in his hands. He’s a pretty solid player on both ends and is also able to stretch the floor.
