About Derrell

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Fast-paced, high-IQ guard who plays downhill, looks for the open man or the bucket, and keeps the defense guessing. Right-handed but shoots lefty, using pace, angles, and the entire court to my advantage.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Calm and composed under pressure, I stay confident and focused no matter the situation. I never hang my head, stay coachable, and constantly look for ways to improve my game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’ve received several academic honors, including multiple math awards, and I’m a two-time spelling bee champion.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’m highly coachable and always open to feedback, using any input to improve my game. I’m committed to doing whatever it takes for both myself and my teammates to succeed, whether that means leading, supporting, or sacrificing for the team.

I’m looking for a college that values both basketball and academics—one that will help me continue to grow as a player while also providing a strong education that equips me with the knowledge and opportunities to support myself and my loved ones.
