was the player of the year in this conference, which is an incredible accomplishment with the talent the WCAC has. Derek made some big plays at the end of this game. He hit a few free throws late and had a tough finish at the rim. He knocked down a contested three that cut the game to two. He had 13 points.

Averaged 18 ppg to lead Gonzaga through a tough slate of teams on the weekend, thriving on or off the ball while making the right reads in the half court or finding his own shot in transition. The soft touch on his pull-ups and floaters extended leads down the stretch for the Purple Eagles, and his passing reads sustained them throughout the weekend.

Dixon got going early from beyond the arc and settled into playmaker mode after TTO built up a double-digit lead early in the 1H behind some suffocating defense and a fastbreak ignited by 3s. He’s much more comfortable operating in side ball screens and is seeing the skip pass targets as well as the easy rolls in half court offense– showing the improved play-making chops that have led to an uptick in his recruitment. His perimeter shooting is vital to the undefeated run that his TTO 17u group is on so far this season, providing the spacing needed for the driving lanes of his teammates.

had a rough night shooting in the Semi-final against DeMatha. He rectified that in the final and was Gonzaga’s most productive offensive player. Derek had an outstanding 3rd quarter, and he was a big reason Gonzaga was able to even the score with about 3 minutes left in the frame. Derek’s jump shot was falling all game, and he knocked down 3 threes. I’ve always loved the maturity in Derek’s game, and he showed out in a big spot despite the loss. He finished with 15 points.
