Although his team was a bit overmatched against Team Herro , Brown put forth a very strong showing for Geek Squad. The physically strong wing had 15 points to lead his team was able to finish through contact in the lane, nail a three-point shot and make all six of his foul shots. He also did not force the issue and make strong decisions with the ball in his hands.

Saw Brown play a couple of times last Summer and Fall and he continues to up his game. Has gotten stronger and faster than he already was. He’ll float between a 2, 3, or 4 based on program need. A positionless player at this stage. Gets downhill with a full head of steam on primary breaks. Endures the physicality around the rim and battles it out on the boards. Converted several difficult finishes in heavy traffic. He’s difficult to guard because he competes intensely in a humble nature. A competitive selfless prospect to track.

Derek had a strong showing against Powerhouse MN on Sunday. He has a solid frame at 6′, and did a nice job of using his physicality around the basket. Derek plays off of two feet around the rim, showing the patience to gather his balance before going up to finish over the top of defenders. In what was a close game in the first half, he helped his team pull-away and head into halftime with all of the momentum, hitting a mid-range jumper and two transition lay-ups with under two minutes to play. Really efficient finisher for Geek Squad 16u.

Aggressively plays hard with competitiveness and consistent activity. A true rim runner with length. Scored it after sprinting the floor to retrieve a full court pitch ahead pass out running the defense. Got downhill quickly in the 1/2 court setting to draw defenders and then dish off. Uses size to alter plays defensively and recovered his own block to initiate a fast break opportunity. Has a willingness and drive to outwork opponent and put team in position to win the play.
