has the ability to blow by defenders thanks to his lower body power. Once he gets by his guy, he does a nice job of protecting the rock and often makes difficult shots around the rim. Townsend also knows when there is help coming, and can drop it off to his forwards on the block. On defense, he utilizes his anticipation skills and speed to collect steals.

moves to #60. Townsend picks up speed faster than his opponents expect. Which allows him to get some separation and once he is near the rim he can usually finish. His speed is also helpful on the defensive end, as he is able to beat opponents to their spots. On the season, he averaged 2.3 steals per game as well.

brought his A game on Saturday. The Foothill guard was utilizing his acceleration skills to blow by defenders and he made some nice finishes. He also hit a couple of 3’s late in the game to try and make it a close game, but Desert Pines was too far in front.

is a guy who can get downhill and score. He has a pretty explosive first step, and occasionally draws fouls when he gets near the rim. He also uses his athleticism to his advantage on defense and creates a lot of pressure with his active hands and lateral quickness.

Really love the effort and energy that Townsend played with when I saw him during the Labor Day Tournament. The two way guard has a nose for the ball and is a terrific on ball defender. He makes his first appearance as a top 120 player in the rankings.

Townsend was all over the court, making plays in spades. He was at the rim, getting out ahead of the break and finishing in transition. He also showed terrific quickness, using an explosive first step to get by the initial defender, before finishing at the rim.
