Maas makes a strong impression as a true lead point guard for the Sterling Golden Warriors. He started as a freshman this past scholastic season and will look to garner even more responsibility during his upcoming souphmore season. He has a clean handle with a crafty change of pace that allows him to manipulate defenders. His moves include hesitations, pull-backs, quick cross overs, and in-and-outs that allows him to get the defender off balance and then get downhill. Maas has developed the ability to knock down perimeter shots but his bread and butter is displaying court vision after drawing help. His ability to control tempo and facilitate for others makes him a premier point guard that coaches should continue to have on their radar.

Almost no one was more fun to watch this weekend than Dre Maas. Everywhere you looked, Maas was scoring with confidence and swagger. Whether he was slashing to the hole, making fast-paced steals and driving all the way to the hoop, or swishing it from behind the arc, Maas was borderline unstoppable, helping his team score more than 60 points combined.

Caught Maas play a couple months ago at the beginning of our circuit season. Started as a true freshman for a young Warriors squad. The competition he faced has continued to elevate his game. Possesses clean dribbles with some craftiness to handle. Eyes are peeled to see the floor going full speed on break as well is in half court while he’s in attack mode. Can score it form inside and out. Hit a tough 3 for and1 and also converted on a couple finishes at the cup. Draws fouls to get to stripe consistently on dribble drive action.

Reliable handler with a strong aptitude to control pace. Showed control off the bounce with hesitations, pull back dribbles, or quick crosses to gain leeway. Slices and dices off dribble to gain step. Gets downhill in a hurry and attacks lane lines or angles in the ½ court setting or on break. Utilizes ball screens and will make necessary extra pass for better opportunity. Steady primary point that helped lead team to 3-1 on weekend stance.
